I’m sitting here, chipping my nail polish off, thinking to myself, how do I summarize “Who I am?” Do I begin with: “I am a 20 something (closer to 30) year old wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend?” No, that sounds too cliche. Do I begin with “Hey, my name’s Jacqueline, I was born in Washington, DC, but grew up in Maryland, my favorite things to do in my spare time are hang with my friends and family.” Eww, that just brought me back to my school days. I dreaded when everyone would go around the room and introduce themselves one by one. *Insert eye roll* Or maybe I should begin with “Once upon a time…a long time ago…on a brisk Spring morning in South East, DC a little nugget named Jacqueline emerged into this big, big world…”
Anyway, you get the point.
So, let’s dive in! Who am I? What I can tell you with confidence is that I am sweet, sassy, and a little bit classy.
Friends and family would describe me as having a city style with a country state of mind. I love nice things (but only if I get a good deal on them), traveling, thrifting and interior decorating. I also enjoy the simple things in life like: sitting on my back patio drinking a cup of coffee early in the morning before the rest of the world wakes up, picnics in the park, being outdoors; simple yet fulfilling things. I am also very honest and usually say what everyone else is thinking, but don’t you dare be mean to me because I am really, really sensitive (oooh the nerve of me).
Close friends would tell you that you can see my thoughts written all over my face. I am the type of friend who won’t let my girl leave the house with an ugly top on; I am also that friend you can call in the middle of the night sobbing.
I am an introvert although some may be surprised by this (I’m still convincing my husband). I prefer quality friendships versus quantity. I have a small set of girlfriends who I consider my sisters aka my “sista friends.” I am passionate about my tribe and I hold my loved ones very close to my heart.
I have a bachelors in Televisions Journalism and a minor in Communications and was previously a news anchor and consumer reporter for my College Newscast Television Station. Not to toot my own horn, but (toot toot). I was SO good at it! I really was. Sitting behind the news desk in my blazer, with full hair and makeup on at 7 am acting like I wasn’t out at the bars the night before. It’s all about balance people!
I went back to school after three years and in 2017 I received my Master of Science in Business Administration Marketing and a Graduate Certificate in Professional Selling and Sales Management. This was an amazing and humbling experience. Humbling mainly because it was the first time I realized I was getting… shall I say…older. I was used to being the youngest person in most settings (my husband is 5 years older, I am the youngest out of my friends, at work etc.). However, sitting in a classroom with all these ”youngsters” (hold on, let me go grab my dentures…) straight out of undergrad, really reminded me that as each day goes by, my boobs are getting just a little more saggy.
No, but really, it was an awesome experience.
As mentioned above, I was born in Washington, DC, but grew up in different parts of Maryland. After marrying the love of my life in 2015, we moved to the midwest where we lived for three years. We are now back on the East Coast and it just feels right. It feels like home.
We welcomed our son into the world on 8/8/18. He is our pride and joy and the cutest baby you’ll ever lay your eyes on. Think of the cutest baby you know. Maybe it’s your niece or nephew, or maybe it’s even your own baby. He’s like… 10 times cuter than that. I’m just kidding. I’m just kidding. Relax! I know everyone thinks that their baby is the cutest baby they’ve ever seen.
